Loyola Degree College (YSRR), affiliated to Yogi Vemana University, offers undergraduate programmes across five main departments. Students choose a Single Major subject and have the option to take a Minor subject, enabling specialization plus interdisciplinary exposure.

Major + Minor Subject Structure

Single Major: Each student selects one subject as their Major — this is their primary field of specialization. The Major subject forms the core of their academic work: lectures, practicals (if applicable), assessment, and major portion of their curriculum.

Minor Subject: In addition to the Major, students may take a Minor subject from one of the other departments. The Minor is designed to give breadth — to complement the Major with skills or knowledge in another domain.

Purpose & Benefits:
• Encourages breadth as well as depth: Students aren’t locked into only one discipline.
• Helps in interdisciplinarity: e.g. a student majoring in a science subject might minor in economics or languages.
• Improves employability and skill diversification: Minor subjects such as data science, computer applications, or communications may add useful skills.

Guidelines: The structure (credits, course load, assessment) is in line with APSHE (Andhra Pradesh State Higher Education) norms and the regulations of Yogi Vemana University. This ensures that the college allocates credit-hours proportionally between Major and Minor, that syllabi align with university requirements, and that examination and evaluation follow prescribed formats.

Combinations: Possible combinations include:
• Major in Computational Sciences (Data Science) with Minor in Mathematics or English.
• Major in Life Sciences (Botany / Biotechnology) with Minor in Commerce / Economics.
• Major in Commerce / BBA with Minor in Computer Applications or Oriental Languages.

Medium of Instruction & Electives: Courses are offered in English medium (and in some cases also in Telugu / local language for language subjects), with electives/minors that allow choice of subjects from other departments.
